How to Export My Codes?

At Koda, we believe in keeping your data safe, not holding it hostage. Whether you want to switch platforms or just keep a physical backup, you can export your 2FA codes whenever you want.

Here is the step-by-step guide to exporting your codes:

Step-by-Step Export

Log In: First, go to Koda in your browser and log in to your account.

Open the Menu: If you are a Web or PWA (Progressive Web App) user, click on the User/Profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Select Export: Click the "Export codes" button in the menu that opens.

Note: Our Android and iOS mobile applications are still in the release phase. You can proceed using the browser on your mobile device or by using the PWA version.

Which Format Should I Choose?

When you reach the export page, you will see two different file format options. You can choose the one that best suits your needs:

1. .txt Format (Recommended)

This format provides your codes as plain text.

What is it for? This format is best when moving to a new Koda account or bulk importing your data into another Authenticator app (Google Auth, Authy, etc.).

File Structure: The file you download (e.g.,
koda-codes-2025-11-23.txt
) is automatically named with the current date and consists of
otpauth
links:

otpauth://totp/Cengel:[email protected]?secret=JBSWY3DPEHPK3PXP&period=30&digits=6&algorithm=SHA1&issuer=ID
otpauth://totp/Cengel:[email protected]?secret=XKW...

2. .html Format

This format provides your codes as a visual document.

What is it for? When you open this file in a browser, you can see the generated QR codes for each of your accounts alongside the text-based otpauth links.

Use Case: If you want to move away from digital storage and create a physical backup (like printing it out and locking it in a safe), this format is ideal. You can scan the QR codes in this file one by one with your camera when switching to a new device.

Important Security Warning

These exported files are the keys to your digital identity.

Never leave the file on an insecure computer (internet cafe, shared computer, etc.) after downloading it.

If you downloaded it solely to transfer to another app, delete the file permanently once the transfer is complete.

If you intend to keep the file, we recommend storing it on an encrypted USB drive or in a secure cloud storage location.
